Shia mosque under tight security
Dhaka: After Bogra attack at a Shia mosque, the authorities concerned have taken all out security measures to Shia mosques and its entire infrastructures in the capital on Friday.
The Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (media), Muntasirul Islam, has confirmed this to Samakal online today. Earlier a muezzin was killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire at a Shia mosque in Shibganj upazila of Bogra on Thursday evening.
The dead was identified as Moazzem Hossain (55) when three others were also received bullet injuries including the mosque's Imam. Shooting was happened after the evening prayer at Upazila's Haripur village's Al Mostafa Jam-e-Mosque on the day.
The injured were known as Abu Taher (36), Mosque Imam Shahinur Rahman (45) and Aftab Ali (45). The muezzin was died on the way to hospital. This is the second such attack on Bangladesh's Shia Muslim community came after the bomb blasts at a Shia shrine in Old Dhaka last month.
Meanwhile, The Islamic State (IS) reportedly claimed for the attack, SITE Intelligence Group reports.
