IF 'only' body to certify halal products26 November, 2015 04:56
Islamic Foundation (IF) Director General Sameem Mohammad Afzal today said his organization is the only recognized state-owned body to certify the country's "halal" products.
"Apart from Islamic Foundation, no other body has the right to issue halal certificate in the country. Action will be taken against those who are using halal logo and certificate illegally," he said at a meeting with representatives of halal product producers at his office at Agargaon here, according to BSS report.
He said Islamic Foundation started to provide halal certificate from 2007 for easing marketing of halal products to different countries across the globe. The Foundation, the DG said, is working to expedite the process of issuing halal certificates for creating smooth market access to the country's halal products to different countries especially to the OIC member states.
The OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) is going to organize a two-day conference in Jeddah of Saudi Arabia on December 9-10 to fix a single halal food management system in coordination with halal standardized, certification and accreditation organizations worldwide.
