Wasfia Nazreen, National Geographic Adventurers of the Year 2014-15, became the first ever Bangladeshi, to have completed the Seven Summits record.
The news published on BBC Bangla today. She made her dream fullfilled and pushed Bangladesh & Bangladeshi women in new height. The youngest Everest summiteer of the country successfully reached the summit of Carstensz Pyramid, highest mountain of the Australasia/Oceania continent.
She reached the summit of this Papuan territory on 18 November along with her Indonesian friend Joshua Noya. She called her spokesperson Korvi Rakshand in Bangladesh from the summit and said: “Because we had launched this campaign in celebration of Bangladesh’s 40 years of independence, it only makes sense to dedicate the completion to the Spirit of ‘71 and all those who are fighting to protect it. I pray peace return to Motherland soon!”
Before the climb, the hike into base camp included 220km of exhausting marching through thick muddy rainforest, river-crossings, tropical malaria and slippery rocky zones.
