Truck overturns in Bandarban, 7 killed17 December, 2015 12:55
At least seven people were killed and seven others injured as a truck overturned after its driver lost control over the steering in the hilly area of Bandarban’s Lama upazila.
The road accident took place at around 7:30am on Thursday in Yangsa area under the upazila, Lama Police Station OC Abdus Sattar told. Among the deaths four were identified as Rajib, 40, Robin, 35, Aftab, 55, and Amzad, 35.
Confirming the incident, Mizanur Rahman, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bandarban, told Samakal that the truck was going to Lama from Dhaka loading with mobile tower installing equipments and workers.
The truck has 15 people on board including its driver, said the SP adding that the truck overturned in the area after its driver lost control over the steering this morning, leaving four dead on the spot and 10 injured.
After rescuing, the injured were whisked off to the Chakaria Upazila Health Complex in Cox’s Bazar while the duty doctor declared more three of them as dead, he said. The driver of the truck has managed to flee the scene after the road mishap, added the SP.
