An wedding outdo Baahubali29 November, 2015 06:11
If there was ever an Indian wedding that deserved the ‘big, fat’ title, then nothing triumphs this.
According to reports, a Rs 55 crore wedding pandal was unfurled yesterday at the Asramam ground in Kollam, Kerala to celebrate the marriage of an NRI business tycoon’s daughter Arathi to Dr Aditya Vishnu.
The proud father Ravi Pillai, who’s current net value stands at $2.8 billion, has been ranked the richest Keralite, in a Times Of India survery conducted earlier this year.
The family clearly believed in sparing no expense to celebrate the special occasion: Sabu Cyril, the art director for top grosser 'Baahubali' was hired to create a Rajasthan palaces-inspired setting that was spread across eight acres, and cost well over Rs 20 crore.
Rs 10 crore was invested, according to sources, in charity initiatives planned in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts, while an elaborate music show featuring dance performances Malayam film actresses Manju Warrier and Sobhana was also set to entertain over 30,000 guests.
Cyril admitted that the wedding set was much larger than the one he had constructed for ‘Baahubali’. Although the latter took him over two years to complete, he finished the wedding pandal in 75 days.
